“Caltex Project Chance” is a community engagement programme initiated and sponsored by Chevron
. With the funding of thePartnership Fund for the Disadvantaged, a series of goal-orientation programme are provided for children from low-income families to assist them to build-up self-confidence for facing developmental challenges.
The term “chance” in the programme name refers to “life chance of success”. We provide diversified supports for low-income children and their families such as tutor service, emotion and cognitive group, social group, workshop, parent-child support group, visits etc. to enhance their learning experience and broaden their horizons.
In addition, the participation of volunteers from Caltex and the community help building up of closerelationship between the children and the community to spreadthe message of social caring.
The programme heads towards its 7th year in 2012-13 will continue to focus on STEM elements – Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematic. These elements are important for children to learn about the world around them and understand events in daily lives.
Looking ahead, BGCA and Caltex will continue to assist children in poverty. Providing them with more opportunities to build up self-confidence and develop their potential for a better future.
